What I should do

What I should do

What I should do, according to health professionals
What I do
Get up slowly, have a peaceful morning
Get up slowly, have a peaceful morning – most days
Meditate or do guided meditation
Nope – not regularly
Exercise
Does doing the laundry count?
Do 200 eye convergence exercise reps a day
Was doing 50 a day.  Dr. said I had made no improvement.  Quit doing them
Journal
Was doing 3 pages in the morning regularly, liked it, quit.  Think I will start again.
Eat healthy food
Crave sugar and chocolate.  Often give in to cravings.  Regular diet is far too much on the carbohydrate side.
Make healthy supper
Often loss energy and motivation and declare it is “fend for yourself supper.”

Enjoy my life
Talk to my family as they rotate through my house

Have lunch with friends once a week

Play on my iPad, some of the games are reported to improve my brain

Listen to audio books

Sew, quilt

Watch TV while doing hand work like quilting or crocheting.

Host family dinners, play with my grand children

Enjoy the people I’m with
Walk or train the dog
Haven’t done that regularly since May.  Now I am too scared of slipping and falling.

Take breaks and don’t overdo it
I’m learning to do that.  I plan for a period of work and a then break.

  1. It is very difficult to keep up with standards imposed by others, and impossible to keep up with standards imposed by ourselves. I was reading about the sermon on the mount, and the author said that while we are to strive for these ideals, part of the point is that we can’t live up to them, and we are supposed to realize that we need forgiveness and grace!
